Dante Olita is an embodiment of the crossroads between music and medicine. Playing the guitar since 2010, Dante prides himself on having performed the classical guitar in concert halls and hospital patient rooms across Tucson, Arizona. While he maintains positions at Tucson Medical Center as a Healing Arts Musician and as a Board Member of the Tucson Guitar Society, Dante has extensive experience with the production of concerts and performance opportunities, both on-stage and off.
In 2025, Dante will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Guitar Performance from the University of Arizona, and in the four years of his university studies, has studied abroad in classical guitar programs such as the 16th Edition of the Volterra Project in Italy, as well as under the tutelage of Maestros by the likes of David Russell, Sergio Assad, and Professor Thomas Patterson. In those four years, Dante has won prizes in eight international and local guitar competitions. As a performer, Dante has performed more than a collective 100 hours throughout TMC as a part of the Healing Art Program since 2022, providing patients, healthcare professional, and members of the TMC community with music to help aid in the healing process. Additionally, as a Board Member of the Tucson Guitar Society, Dante has assumed the position of Tohono Chul Concert Series Director, and since 2022, has organized and run more than 40 concerts as a part of the Sundays in the Garden biannual concert series.
Dante represents the socially and philanthropically active community that Tucson, Arizona is best known for. Having been born and raised in Tucson, you have surely seen him throughout the community. Take a trip to the Tohono Chul Botanical Gardens in the months of October-November, March-April and you will see him speaking to crowds of hundreds who have joined him for the Sundays in the Garden concert series, introducing audiences to some of the most talented international musicians that Tucson has to offer. Look at the equipment and you’ll see Dante there too, operating the sound system for these concerts, a crucial detail to their production. If you are familiar with TMC, you understand how integral the arts are to Tucson’s highest regarded medical community, and Dante takes pride in being a part of that art. Everything Dante learns with music, both locally and abroad, he does so with the intent of using it for healing, making excellent music readily available to any and everyone at TMC. If you hear a guitar in the halls there, chances are it is Dante bringing the art of music to those who need it most.
